Memorial Day: take time to remember why we have the holiday

Memorial Day is this weekend. A day to remember those that serve our country, those that have died, and to be appreciative of America, and what our great country stands for.

Remember to take time out of your day off to remember what Memorial Day is all about. Be kind to one another. Kiss your spouse, your mother, your father, and your grandparents. Tell your kids about what a great country we have. Be appreciative.

Both my grandfathers served in WWII. It defined them as it did our country. I appreciate what they did and the lesson my paternal grandfather told my own father about war. It kept him from signing up for Vietnam, and if my grandpa hadn't done that, I might not be here today. He said only fight a war if you have to -- WWII was necessary, Vietnam isn't. Know the difference.

Thanks Grandpa.
